Manager in Training

Position Overview The Manager in Training (MIT) works with the store manager and store teams to achieve sales goals, drive a customer focused environment, manage talent and performance, and execute visual standards. The MIT is enrolled in a training program designed to prepare them for a Store Manager position within 3–6 months. The MIT is expected to relocate to a specific new store or a group of existing stores and must actively participate in all training modules while fulfilling a managerial role. Responsibilities Drive and maintain a customer focused store environment. Create and demonstrate fashion focused store environments by delivering product knowledge and fashion expertise. Consistently show awareness for the customer in actions, priorities, and decisions. Lead by example using customer service training resources. Manage sales goals by analyzing store performance and adjusting plans as necessary. Oversee team performance and manage payroll hours to support business needs and profitability. Assess visual needs and direct implementation of promotional changes to maximize sales. Prepare schedules based on business needs, traffic patterns, and store activity. Direct team to use sales driving programs such as the associate ordering system and community outreach. Make quality hiring decisions and nurture talent through strong networks in the store community. Develop successors and talent pools for all store positions. Provide actionable feedback to associates and ensure effective accountability. Grow and develop talent using company programs such as orientation, customer service training, and the MBA program. Accurately appraise strengths and weaknesses of others and coach associates appropriately. Create an environment that allows others to reach their full potential while fostering a fun, rewarding workplace. Maintain an operationally sound store as measured through opportunity audits. Minimize inventory loss by directing the team to use store security equipment and maintain store cleanliness. Ensure execution of company direction (POS, Visual, HR, Operations) and use resources appropriately. Enforce and follow all maurices policies and procedures, responding to violations using HR resources. Requirements High School Degree or GED required; a business or retail merchandising degree preferred. Supervisory experience in a customer focused environment required; experience in the fashion industry preferred. Proven track record of achieving and setting goals and executing company direction. Experience in hiring, promoting, and motivating talent. Demonstrated ability to lead by example, make sound decisions, and show professionalism. Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills. Persistence and diligence in the face of resistance or setbacks. Commitment to a specific store location or a group of new and existing stores. Unique/Physical Requirements Work varied hours/days as business dictates. Ability to reach, push, pull, stand, squat, and bend for up to 8 hours or longer as necessary. Operate and use all equipment necessary to run the store and computerized register system. Move or handle merchandise weighing up to 50 pounds.
