Travel RN - Cardiac Telemetry

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cardiac Stepdown (CVU) position at a Level 1 Trauma facility, requiring at least 1 year of cardiovascular patient population experience and active ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications. Requirements Active NE state or Compact (NLC) RN license — must be active at time of consideration; pending licenses not accepted Current certifications required: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS — pending certifications not accepted Minimum 1 year of experience with cardiovascular/intermediate care patient population Minimum 2 years of overall RN experience required Epic EMR experience applicable to this patient population Driver's license required for consideration (used to verify home address for radius eligibility) 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked, and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years — must include dates of employment and eligibility for rehire Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility (permanent address verified via driver's license) Candidates may not have been directly employed full-time, part-time, or PRN by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity affiliated facility within the past year (candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered) Responsibilities Acute care stepdown unit (CVU) in a Level 1 Trauma hospital setting 18-bed unit supporting the thoracic program, EP, cath lab, and structural heart programs Patient population includes intermediate care and downgraded CVICU patients with diagnoses such as CVA, CHF, A‑fib RVR, cath lab, and other cardiac and vascular conditions Nurse‑to‑patient ratio is 1:4, with 1:3 for post‑surgical patients in the first 24 hours RNs are required to titrate drips including amiodarone, nitroglycerin, nicardipine, epinephrine, cardizem, and other blood pressure management medications Remote tele techs available; RNs must independently read and interpret telemetry strips — unit has both hardwired and tele box capabilities RT available 24/7 with BiPAP, CPAP, and nasal cannula equipment on unit Hospitalist and intensivist in house 24/7; cardiology on call after hours Charge nurse present each shift; rarely takes a patient assignment Nurse aides/PCTs available at a 1:18 ratio EMR: Epic 12-hour day shifts, 0630–1900; some night shifts 1830–0700 Schedule managed by the unit manager; no block or self‑scheduling Every other weekend required No on‑call or standby requirement Floating required to units of the same or lower acuity level 13‑week contract Navy blue scrubs required Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas; refusal to remove artificial nails will result to contract termination Orientation consists of 1–2 unit‑specific shifts, tailored to the candidate's experience level, plus a pass/fail open‑book skills exam on the Friday of orientation — a minimum score of 90% is required to pass RTO must be submitted upfront (7 days or fewer per 13‑week contract); additional RTO will not be approved after submission Benefits High Pay and Bonuses Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options 401(k) Plan Weekly Payroll Deposit Free Online CEUs Generous Housing Allowance Travel and Licensure Reimbursements Non‑taxed Per Diem and Subsidy Traveler Rewards and Discounts Job ID: P-719680 Open Positions: 1 #J-18808-Ljbffr American Traveler
