Commercial Construction Estimator

Location: Smyrna, GA | Atlanta Metro
Job Type: Full-Time | Permanent, Direct Hire
Salary: $90,000–$120,000, based on experience

The Opportunity

An established Atlanta commercial general contractor is seeking an Estimator to join its growing preconstruction team in Smyrna. The project portfolio includes healthcare, corporate office, higher education, and specialty commercial construction, with a strong emphasis on high-quality interior environments. Healthcare construction is an important area of focus, making experience with hospitals, medical facilities, or other active healthcare environments particularly valuable.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator who enjoys being involved throughout the preconstruction process and wants to join a collaborative team where individual contributions are visible and valued.

What You’ll Do

• Prepare conceptual budgets, detailed estimates, quantity takeoffs, and bid pricing for commercial construction projects.
• Review drawings and specifications to identify scopes of work, constructability considerations, and potential cost impacts.
• Manage invitations to bid and coordinate subcontractor and supplier coverage.
• Analyze, level, and compare subcontractor proposals to ensure complete and competitive pricing.
• Develop detailed scope sheets and assist with bid strategy.
• Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and project surveys as needed.
• Collaborate with subcontractor partners to clarify scope and obtain accurate market pricing.
• Support value engineering and cost-saving efforts throughout preconstruction.
• Maintain historical cost information and project databases.
• Assist project teams with preconstruction presentations and client deliverables.
• Support subcontractor prequalification and maintain strong relationships with trade partners.
• Contribute to ongoing improvements in estimating and preconstruction processes.

What We’re Looking For

• 3+ years of estimating, preconstruction, or related commercial construction experience preferred.
• Experience working for a commercial general contractor is strongly preferred.
• Experience with commercial interiors, healthcare, corporate office, higher education, or other complex commercial projects is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of construction documents, scopes of work, quantity takeoffs, and commercial construction costs.
• Ability to evaluate subcontractor proposals and identify scope gaps.
• Strong analytical skills and attention to detail while maintaining an understanding of the overall project.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with owners, architects, project teams, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Bluebeam, BuildingConnected, PlanSwift, Procore, or similar construction technology.
• Dependable, organized, proactive, and comfortable managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
