Duties

Help

You will serve as an Energy Analyst and be responsible for enhancing operations, sustaining operational capabilities, and providing/expanding energy supply in support of U.S. Coast Guard (USCG) assets worldwide.

Being a Coast Guard civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Typical work assignments include:

  • Coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to support Coast Guard energy, water, and resilience requirements.
  • Analyzing energy and utility programs to ensure reliable and resilient support for Coast Guard operations.
  • Reviewing federal laws, regulations, and directives to develop and implement energy policies and guidance
  • Developing energy projects, statements of work, and contractor requirements to support compliance and program goals.
  • Analyzing energy, financial, and technical data to recommend improvements to program efficiency and performance.

Qualifications

To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 grade level in the federal or private sector. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work. Examples of specialized experience include performing the following types of tasks on a regular basis.

Specialized experience may include the following:
  • Initiating contracts for program services and coordinate with federal and military agencies to support logistics, infrastructure, and mission requirements.
  • Managing program funds to support energy, utility, logistics, transportation, research, or infrastructure requirements
  • Analyzing consumption, spending, and performance data to measure compliance and program effectiveness.
  • Evaluating supply issues, contract exceptions, waivers, or deficiency reports to support program decisions
  • Providing technical oversight and developing policies or guidance for logistics, energy, or infrastructure programs.

NOTE: Education cannot be substituted for experience at this grade level.

National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
