Lafayette Medical Approach is an OASAS 822, CARF-accredited outpatient opioid treatment program located in Soho in Lower Manhattan. We have been treating individuals with opioid addiction in the community successfully for over 40 years. Job Description:

 We have an opening for a motivated, energetic Substance Abuse Counselor. This is a great opportunity to make an impact in a small but robust organization obtaining great hands-on clinical experience in the social services field.

Responsibilities include:

· Caseload of approximately 55-65 patients, many of which are only seen once a month.

· Conduct intake screenings and assessments.

· Conduct individual counseling sessions, both in-person and telephonic.

· Facilitate group counseling sessions.

· Develop individualized treatment plans.

· Document progress notes, treatment plans, and group notes in accordance with regulations.

· Maintain records in compliance with OASAS regulations with completeness, accuracy and regard for HIPAA confidentiality.

· Conduct toxicology screenings as necessary.

· Attend multidisciplinary staff meetings.

· Participate in weekly supervision.

· Collaborate with medical staff to ensure comprehensive patient care.

· Maintain linkages with other treatment facilities as appropriate to patients’ needs.

· Provide information and referral services.

Qualifications:

· MUST have at minimum a CASAC-t. Higher credentials including CASAC, LMHC, LMSW will be paid accordingly. All credentials must be verifiable.

· Preferably 1-2 years of experience in the substance abuse field.

· Spanish speaking is a plus but not required.

Skills:

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

· Strong organizational skills along with respect for deadlines for all documentation.

· Strong computer skills including word processing, EMR, and web browsing.

· Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

· Excellent interpersonal skills for building rapport with clients.

· Knowledge of evidence-based addiction treatment modalities.

· Competence in addressing co-occurring disorders and trauma-related issues.

· Proficiency in record-keeping and case management practices.

Salary: 

• $41,000 – $51,000 depending on experience and performance.
