SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR

Job Description OASAS licensed substance abuse program seeks talented clinicians to join our team. Full- and part-time positions are available with flexible hours and supervision, including hours towards credentialing. Limited permits accepted. Essential Functions Initial assessment and screening Treatment planning Individual counseling Group therapy Crisis intervention Maintain engagement with the patient during their time in the treatment program Maintain assigned caseload and provide case management Maintain timely and appropriate notes in patient charts Maintain close communication with the Clinical Director/Supervisor, assigned addiction physician, and other program staff Adhere to all OASAS Program regulations and procedures regarding treatment Communicate clearly and cooperatively with staff and patients Participate in professional development training throughout the year Follow established company policies and those outlined in the program policies and employee handbook Refer clients, when necessary, to the proper treatments; monitor the patients’ treatment attendance and progress through both written documentation and oral contacts Assess clients with substance use disorders to gather and interpret information necessary for planning treatment and evaluating client progress Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of the established diagnostic criteria for substance use disorders, treatment modalities, and placement criteria within the continuum of care Knowledge of models and theories of addiction and other problems related to substance use Knowledge of the social and cultural context within which addiction and substance abuse exist; knowledge of ethical and behavioral standards of conduct in helping relationships; knowledge of principles of learning and a variety of educational techniques Knowledge of helping strategies for reducing the negative effects of substance use, abuse, and dependence Knowledge of support systems and community resources available to patients, their families, and their significant others Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with other professionals Ability to establish and maintain a therapeutic relationship with patients with substance use disorders and their families and significant others Ability to make constructive therapeutic responses when the client’s behavior is inconsistent with stated recovery goals Ability to accurately document client information Experience & Requirements Must hold either a CASAC, CASAC‑T, LMHC, LCSW, LMSW, LMFT or be limited permit eligible Maintain state requirements for current license Prior clinical experience working with substance abuse or related fields, including clinical assessments, procedures, and methods designed for substance abuse; ability to assess treatment goals, write goal‑directed individualized treatment plans, monitor and document individual behavior patterns, modify treatment plans, and familiarity with diagnostic vocabulary and requirements Job Types: Full-time, Internship Bridge Back to Life Center provides equal employment opportunities (EEO) to all employees and applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability or genetics. #J-18808-Ljbffr 6AM City, LLC
