Position Information Job Title: Staff Accountant (Project Coordinator 2) Posting Number: 260063 Classification: Project Coordinator 2; Position Type: Classified; Full/Part: Full-Time; FLSA: Non-Exempt; Anticipated Start Date: Upon Hire; Location: Main Campus. Salary/Wage: Hourly $35.19 – $51.61 (Classified Hourly Pay Level 17); approximate annual salary $73,202 – $107,353. Working Schedule: Full-time; variable work hours based upon department needs; occasional evenings and weekends may be required; typical hours 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Required Qualifications Required Education: A bachelor’s degree with coursework in a related field. Required Experience: Eight (8) years of accounting/finance experience with at least three (3) years in progressively increasing project management role or responsibility. Conditions of Employment: Successful applicants must complete a criminal background check and must work and reside in the state of Oregon at the time of employment. Preferred Qualifications Experience with GAAP or IFRS rules and guidelines for financial reporting. Experience in a community college setting. Experience managing financial reporting and GAAP reporting rules. Experience with complex, internal, and external software systems, preferably Banner ERP. Experience using advanced and complex spreadsheets, downloads, databases, and/or extracts. Familiarity with internal controls and separation of duties. Position Purpose This position supports operational efficiency and security for the College's financial activities and assets, serving a variety of College departments. The role includes processing transactions, designing process flows, and answering questions and troubleshooting problems daily. Essential Functions Establish procedures, priorities, and overall direction per funding agency and college policy. Set long- and short-range goals. Write and monitor contracts with subcontractors. Evaluate staffing needs and screen applicants. Plan, schedule, assign, train, direct, and evaluate assigned staff. Develop and administer project budget and capital outlay requests. Monitor compliance with local, state, and federal laws, policies, procedures, and regulations. Recommend changes to college procedures and policies. Produce timely budget and progress reports. Assess client needs and develop service delivery procedures. Coordinate training opportunities and events for staff and target audiences. Serve as chief liaison and advocate for the project with college departments, community, and other agencies. Promote the project through public presentations, media interviews, and written materials. Establish user groups and network relationships with coalitions and agencies related to project goals. Represent the college at budget negotiation and evaluation sessions. Provide technical assistance to staff and outside agencies on project matters. Ensure coordination with agencies to meet college obligations. Promote social justice principles in daily work. Handle sensitive information in compliance with FERPA, maintaining confidentiality. Perform additional duties as assigned. Supervision Statement Reports to and works under the guidance of the Controller. Works independently based on knowledge and professional judgment. Coordinates and leads work of Project Coordinators, Administrative Specialists, Project Specialists, hourly employees, volunteers, and student workers. Plans work, assigns tasks, prioritizes, trains staff, and has input into hiring decisions and performance evaluations. Physical Demands and Working Environment Indoor office environment with normal office noises and interruptions (printers, telephones, visitors). Must sit or stand for extended periods, perform cognitive work for over six hours a day, and may need to lift up to 25 pounds. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong understanding of debits/credits and accounting principles. Intermediate to advanced Excel skills. Attention to detail. Exemplary customer service to students, staff, and vendors. Accurate record keeping with audit trail. Meeting deadlines.
