Parks Maintenance Specialist II Enterprise South - Public Works Division

Under close supervision, performs a variety of cleaning, maintenance and/or landscaping duties within the County parks buildings, grounds, parks facilities, campsites, ballparks, and recreation sites. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Operate landscaping equipment such as mowers, weed eaters, tree trimmers, edgers, etc.; load, haul and unload equipment, materials and supplies safely; perform vehicle and equipment checks; conduct preventive maintenance; transfer equipment to and from work sites; assist in snow removal and ice control; work around all types of moving equipment; may be required to drive vehicles or operate heavy equipment that requires a CDL. Mow grass; weed plant beds; prune trees; trim and edge landscaping; clean restrooms, facilities, grounds, pavilions, campsites, ballparks, and other recreation facilities; perform maintenance and repairs of recreation facilities and grounds. Operate a variety of maintenance‑related tools, landscape maintenance and heavy equipment; perform general maintenance activities; support and clean‑up activities, including restrooms and other general laborer duties involving cleaning and sweeping throughout the park. Maintain workplace safety; perform preventive maintenance; handle all types of Parks and Recreation materials. Other related duties as assigned. Apply knowledge of equipment manuals, work orders, and documentation relating to maintenance of County parks and recreational facilities; Hamilton County policies and procedures; federal, state, and county codes and regulations relating to building maintenance, workplace safety, and operation of commercial vehicles; county geography and park facilities. Demonstrate skills in reading, interpreting, understanding and applying applicable rules and regulations; using power tools and landscaping construction equipment; establishing cooperative working relationships with the public, staff, other departments and contractors; performing landscaping and plant care. QUALIFICATIONS High school diploma or equivalent. Valid Class B CDL driver’s license or permit at the time of application. One (1) year of work experience with Hamilton County Parks & Recreation (alternative qualification). ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS Applicants with a permit must obtain a valid Class B CDL driver’s license within six months of hire. Regular visits to County facilities and work sites required. Before operating a County‑owned vehicle, complete the HC Defensive Driving course and/or an Emergency Vehicle Operations Course (EVOC) provided at the department level. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Valid class A or B CDL preferred. SAFETY SENSITIVE This position is identified as "safety sensitive" under 49 CFR Part 40. The position will be subject to drug and alcohol testing according to company policy. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Work requires moderate physical effort involving considerable walking, standing, intermittent sitting, and driving. The employee must frequently stand, talk, hear, walk, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl. Employees must be able to lift and carry/move up to 25 pounds regularly, and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception; employee regularly works outdoors in various weather conditions. Exposure to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions, vibration, high pre‑cautious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, electrical shock, and loud noise levels.
