Executive Director – Friends of the Children – Stockton Friends of the Children – Stockton is a national nonprofit dedicated to empowering youth through one‑to‑one mentorship. The organization has recently secured seed funding of approximately $1.7 million and a dedicated staff of five, and it is now poised for accelerated growth and expanded impact across Stockton and San Joaquin County. The Executive Director will serve as chief executive, lead fundraiser, strategist, ambassador, and culture‑builder, reporting to the Board of Directors and collaborating with Friends of the Children National leadership. The candidate will help establish the organization as a trusted, influential community partner and will expand visibility, philanthropic investment, community partnerships, and organizational capacity. Responsibilities Serve as the organization’s lead fundraiser, cultivating donors, foundations, corporations, public officials, and nonprofit partners. Lead strategic planning, annual operations, budgeting, growth initiatives, performance monitoring, and risk management to advance long‑term goals. Oversee high‑quality program delivery, sound financial stewardship, strong administrative systems, and a supportive team culture that promotes staff development, accountability, morale, and retention. Partner closely with the Board, National leadership, staff, and peer Executive Directors to strengthen governance, support collaboration, and ensure fidelity to the Friends of the Children model. Act as spokesperson, ambassador, and advocate for the organization, building authentic relationships with donors, community leaders, partners, staff, families, and other stakeholders. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree (advanced degree preferred); 10+ years of progressively responsible executive leadership experience in nonprofit or related environments. Demonstrated success in fundraising, operations, finance, strategy, people leadership, organizational growth, and major gift development. Strong executive presence and credibility with donors, board members, community leaders, and public stakeholders. Strategic, collaborative, culturally competent, approachable leader with excellent communication, storytelling, decision‑making, and supervisory skills. Strong commitment to child development, youth outcomes, and long‑term mentoring models. Compensation & Benefits Salary range: $145,000–$165,000 plus incentive compensation, depending on qualifications and experience.
