Assistant New Student Orientation Administrator

Thousands of new students enter BYU each year. The Office of First-Year Experience (FYE) has the exciting opportunity to welcome students to campus and introduce them to BYU life at New Student Orientation (NSO). If you would like to play a key role in this important endeavor, this may be the job for you!

What you'll do in this position:

• Assist the NSO administrator to plan and implement four annual orientation events and programs (includes scheduling, setup, support needs).
• Recruit, hire, and train student employees and volunteer staff.
• Help create and maintain collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
• Research, acquire, maintain, and manage event inventory.
• Reconcile purchases with expense reports.
• Assist with additional events as needed.
• Help with weekly student newsletter and monitor FYE websites.
• Attend annual professional development conference.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

• A firm commitment to the mission of BYU
• Bachelor's degree and one year of event planning or project management experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite
• Excellent written and oral communication experience
• Ability to collaborate and build relationships
• Ability to work professionally under pressure and meet deadlines
• Ability to problem solve quickly and think independently

Preferred

• Bachelor's degree in experience design, recreation management, or similar field
• Familiarity with university first-year student needs and characteristics
• Qualtrics and assessment experience
• Familiarity with BYU values, policies, Mission and Aims
