Accountant I

Location: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Archon Resources is currently looking for an Accountant I to join one of our best clients located in Oklahoma City. This is a temporary contract opportunity for an initial period of 3-6 months, with the potential for extension based on business needs and performance.

Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Accountant I to support accounting operations related to insurance and benefits accounts. This position will focus on accounts receivable, payment processing, account reconciliation, discrepancy resolution, refunds, and maintaining accurate financial records. The ideal candidate will have experience with bookkeeping, accounting, insurance eligibility, or benefits-related accounts and will be comfortable working with sensitive information, established procedures, and strict accuracy and processing deadlines. Strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional support to internal and external customers are essential.

Responsibilities:

• Review, analyze, record, and reconcile accounts receivable transactions.
• Accurately post payments received from members and employer payroll groups.
• Reconcile insurance and benefits accounts and investigate discrepancies.
• Identify, research, and resolve payment and account discrepancies.
• Process refund requests, returned payments, write-offs, and related financial transactions.
• Review forms and requests for compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Prepare professional correspondence related to account discrepancies, changes, and other financial transactions.
• Respond to inquiries regarding billing, payments, account reconciliation, and applicable procedures.
• Provide timely and accurate guidance to internal and external customers.
• Process reports, account queries, workflow assignments, daily correspondence, and special projects within established deadlines.
• Maintain accurate documentation and financial records.
• Protect confidential customer and participant information and follow applicable privacy and compliance requirements.
• Meet established standards for accuracy, productivity, and processing timelines.
• Participate in required meetings, training sessions, and department initiatives.
• Perform additional accounting and administrative duties as assigned.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, insurance eligibility, or closely related work.
• At least 1 year of experience maintaining, analyzing, and reconciling insurance, benefits, or similar financial accounts.
• Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and reconciliation practices.
• Experience identifying and resolving financial or account discrepancies.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
• Ability to prioritize multiple assignments and consistently meet deadlines.
• Strong organizational and analytical skills.
• Professional written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively with internal and external customers.
• Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
• Experience working with insurance, employee benefits, accounts receivable, or related financial transactions is preferred.

Work Environment: Professional office environment. Primarily computer and phone-based work. Extended periods of sitting and computer use. In-person attendance at the Oklahoma City office is required. Occasional job-related travel may be required.
