Building Automation Systems Specialist

Location Charlotte, North Carolina, United States Position Overview Systems Specialist – Supports installation, startup, and commissioning of building automation system equipment at the Charlotte, NC branch. The role ensures system configurations, data integrity, and client satisfaction, contributing to sustainable, energy‑efficient building environments. Responsibilities Commission new distributed digital control systems on construction sites within scheduled timelines, documenting details and communicating deficiencies and progress. Plan work in collaboration with Lead Technician and Team Leader. Assist with data backups from servers, automate backup procedures, troubleshoot inconsistencies, and configure PC workstations and user interfaces. Confirm proper network performance and conduct operational testing, verification, and acceptance of system operation. Run routine reports, participate in final inspection and testing, support customer acceptance, and conduct on‑site system training. Compile and submit written reports; provide plans and control system documents to engineering for as‑built drawings. Support scheduling of trade contractors for startup services and submit accurate time and expense reports. Work overtime as needed; may include compressed schedule performance and extended hours. Work rotational on‑call and/or minimal overnight travel. Adhere to local, corporate, and OSHA safety policies and procedures. Provide dedicated support to customers within a team environment. Basic Qualifications Electro‑mechanical experience (through previous experience or education) and basic PC/software skills. At least 1 year of experience installing and servicing electronic control or HVAC equipment. On‑the‑job experience reading, understanding, and interpreting design and construction documents. Ability to work in various conditions, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, high lift equipment, ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, and above ceilings. Willingness to use hand tools, laptops, email, smartphones, tablets, and to carry equipment and tools weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance. Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Willingness to work overtime as needed. Must be 18 years of age, possess a valid driver’s license with limited violations, and meet eligibility for Siemens fleet vehicle program. Legally authorized to work in the United States on a permanent basis without company sponsorship. Preferred Qualifications High school diploma or state‑recognized GED; associate or bachelor’s degree in electronics, mechanical engineering, or related field.
