PCG Consulting Group International is building a team of experienced healthcare technology professionals to support a national healthcare advisory firm on a large statewide rural-health technology readiness initiative.

The Senior Digital Readiness Assessor / Pod Lead will lead a two-person assessment team responsible for evaluating the current technology capabilities of rural, community, and Critical Access Hospitals. The Pod Lead will guide each hospital assessment from initial preparation and stakeholder discovery through evidence review, maturity evaluation, findings development, quality review, and final revisions.

This is a hands-on healthcare IT assessment role requiring broad knowledge of hospital technology environments, strong executive facilitation skills, sound judgment when evaluating incomplete or conflicting information, and the ability to translate technical findings into clear business implications and recommendations.

The ideal candidate may come from healthcare IT consulting, hospital technology leadership, technology assessment, enterprise architecture, clinical systems, implementation leadership, or a former hospital CIO/IT Director background.

 

Key Responsibilities

• Lead a two-person hospital technology assessment team from engagement preparation through final findings and revisions.
• Review hospital profiles, technology documentation, system information, available evidence, and known information gaps prior to assessment sessions.
• Facilitate structured virtual discovery sessions with hospital executives and leaders across IT, clinical operations, finance, and related functions.
• Assess technology readiness across areas including:
  • Healthcare IT staffing and support
  • Infrastructure, networking, and connectivity
  • EHR and clinical/business systems
  • Interoperability and data exchange
  • Data and analytics
  • Automation and artificial intelligence
  • Telehealth
  • Technology governance
  • Project and change-management capacity
  • High-level cybersecurity readiness
• Identify missing, incomplete, conflicting, or unsupported information and determine appropriate follow-up actions.
• Apply defined maturity criteria, assessment frameworks, and evaluation standards consistently.
• Clearly distinguish confirmed facts and documented evidence from assumptions, inferences, and unresolved questions.
• Direct, coordinate, and review the work of the second assessor assigned to the pod.
• Develop concise, evidence-based findings and recommendations appropriate for hospital executives and senior leadership.
• Translate technical observations into understandable operational and organizational implications.
• Participate in assessment calibration, peer review, quality assurance, and factual revision activities.
• Manage multiple hospital assignments, priorities, and short deadlines concurrently.
• Maintain complete and accurate project documentation and work products within a shared cloud-based environment.

Requirements:

• 8+ years of relevant professional experience in healthcare technology consulting, hospital IT, clinical systems, healthcare operations, technology implementation, technology assessment, or a closely related field.
• Broad working knowledge of hospital IT environments, including multiple areas such as EHR/clinical systems, infrastructure, interoperability, data and analytics, technology governance, healthcare operations, and technology delivery.
• Demonstrated experience leading stakeholder interviews, executive working sessions, current-state assessments, technology assessments, implementation reviews, or other structured discovery activities.
• Experience applying a structured evaluation methodology such as a maturity model, readiness framework, assessment framework, audit methodology, scoring rubric, or similar process.
• Strong business writing and executive communication skills.
• Ability to analyze incomplete or conflicting information and clearly document what is known, what is supported by evidence, and what requires additional validation.
• Experience leading, directing, mentoring, or formally reviewing the work of other consultants, analysts, assessors, or technology professionals.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent assignments and meet short deadlines in a remote environment.
• Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and directly relevant professional experience.
• Ability to work regularly during Central Time business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with rural hospitals, Critical Access Hospitals, community hospitals, or other resource-constrained healthcare organizations.
• Previous experience as a hospital CIO, IT Director, applications leader, enterprise architect, implementation leader, or senior healthcare technology consultant.
• Experience conducting technology readiness assessments, maturity assessments, current-state assessments, implementation reviews, gap assessments, or technology roadmaps.
• Experience presenting technology findings, recommendations, assessments, or roadmaps to hospital executives or other senior healthcare leaders.
• Experience supporting multi-hospital, multi-site, or large-scale healthcare technology initiatives.
• Deeper expertise in one or more healthcare technology domains such as:
  • EHR and clinical systems
  • Interoperability and health information exchange
  • Healthcare infrastructure and networking
  • Data and analytics
  • Cybersecurity governance
  • Telehealth
  • Automation and artificial intelligence
