Senior Litigation Attorney

We are partnering with a rapidly growing, entrepreneurial New York law firm that serves as outside general counsel to businesses ranging from startups and emerging companies to established, venture-backed organizations. The Role The firm is seeking an experienced Litigation Attorney admitted in New York and New York federal courts to lead and manage a broad range of business-related litigation matters. This attorney will serve as a trusted advisor to clients throughout the lifecycle of disputes while partnering closely with the firm's corporate and outside general counsel teams. The ideal candidate will be comfortable handling matters independently, developing litigation strategy, managing client relationships, and representing businesses in both state and federal courts. Responsibilities Manage all phases of commercial litigation from pre-suit counseling through resolution, including trial, arbitration, mediation, and appeals as appropriate. Represent businesses in state and federal court proceedings involving: Commercial and business disputes Breach of contract claims Partnership and shareholder disputes Business torts Employment-related litigation Restrictive covenant and trade secret matters Real estate and construction disputes Other complex civil litigation matters Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation-related filings. Develop and execute litigation strategy while balancing legal risk and business objectives. Manage discovery, depositions, expert witnesses, and motion practice. Advise clients regarding dispute avoidance, risk management, and pre-litigation strategy. Collaborate closely with attorneys across the firm's corporate, employment, and outside general counsel practices. Participate in client development efforts and contribute to the firm's continued growth and expansion. Qualifications J.D. from an accredited law school. Active license and good standing in New York. Admission to one or more New York federal district courts (Southern, Eastern, Northern, and/or Western Districts preferred). Significant experience handling commercial and business litigation matters. Strong motion practice, deposition, and courtroom experience. Ability to independently manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution. Excellent client counseling and relationship management skills. Entrepreneurial mindset with a collaborative, team-oriented approach. Portable book of business welcomed but not required. Primarily in-office in New York. Collaborative and highly entrepreneurial culture. Direct interaction with business owners, founders, and executive leadership teams. Strong emphasis on work/life balance; weekend work is rare.
