PS Hourly Research Assistant Job Summary Performs varied support functions, including gathering andcontributing information or materials for research projects at theRocky Mountain Center for Occupational and Environmental Health(RMCOEH). RMCOEH became Utah's first statutorily establishedmulti-university program in 2021. The Center works especiallyclosely with 10 transdisciplinary Center Program Directors who holdfaculty appointments in 4 U of U departments and will work closelywith faculty and staff at Weber State University to contribute tothe success of this prominent, new legislative initiative andpartnership. Responsibilities Compiles data from a variety of sources including interviews,literature sources, and medical and genealogical records. Enters information into department's computer system. Assists researchers in performing both quantitative andqualitative data analyses in SAS, Excel, NVIVO and otherprograms. Assists researchers by preparing manuscripts and presentationmaterials by creating slides, charts, graphs and handouts. Searches sources such as reference works, documents, statisticalrecords and evaluates applicability of collected data to researchsubject. May assist in data collection including observing and codingmeeting behaviors, creation of questionnaires, and interacting withstudy participants. Drafts correspondence to answer inquiries and responds torequests from agencies about specific projects. Edit research papers, project reports, proposals and curriculummaterials prior to publication or presentation. Prepares format for final disposition of data and arranges forthe printing and graphic art requirements for printedmaterials. Maintains an internal library on project information resourcesand final data collected. Works with research personnel in the design and preparation andrecruitment for research projects and in recording data. Schedules appointments, visits, and meetings for meetingparticipants and clients. Patient Sensitive Research Assistant responsibilities mayinclude: Collect blood for tests, transfusions, and research.Follow universal precautions for all collection, handling, anddisposal of bodily fluids. Ensure blood is properly acquired bymeans of venipuncture, skin puncture, or arterial collection.Adhere to strict sterilization policies and procedures to preventthe transmission of infectious diseases. Perform diagnosticprocedures and interpret results. May transport the specimen to thecorrect laboratory. Entry-level support role. perform tasks asdirected under close supervision. This position ispatient-sensitive and must fulfill all associated vaccinationrequirements, or be approved for an exemption, prior to the firstday of work.
