Engineered Wood Products (EWP) Technician II

Description Position Overview The EWP Technician II is responsible for producing accurate engineered wood product layouts for residential and light commercial projects. This role works with minimal supervision and applies advanced drafting knowledge to complete most residential and light commercial layouts independently. The position also supports customer service, order entry, and provides technical assistance to EWP Technician I team members. Essential Functions Create detailed engineered wood product layouts using company-approved design software and drafting tools. Complete most residential layouts independently with minimal supervision. Support light commercial or multi-unit residential layouts as assigned. Interpret architectural plans, specifications, and customer drawings to develop accurate framing layouts. Convert design specifications into detailed drawings with dimensions, section views, and material lists. Prepare quotes of materials and supporting documentation for completed drawings. Review drawings for accuracy prior to release, requiring only limited senior review. Enter EWP sales orders accurately into company systems. Communicate with customers regarding layout revisions, design questions, and project details. Assist EWP Technician I team members with questions related to layouts or drafting standards. Monitor assigned project workload to ensure deadlines and service expectations are met. Maintain strong knowledge of engineered wood products and drafting software tools. Follow company drafting standards, procedures, and safety guidelines. Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support IWP’s Vision, advance its Mission, and uphold the Organization’s Values. Qualifications and Experience Minimum five (5) years of drafting or layout experience preferred. Three (3) years’ experience as an EWP Technician I or similar role preferred. Proficiency with PrebuiltML X, and/or AutoCAD required. Core Competencies Strong ability to read and interpret construction drawings. Solid math and analytical skills. Ability to manage multiple layout projects simultaneously. Customer service and communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Work Environment and Physical Requirements This position operates in a professional office environment with frequent interaction with internal teams and customers. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, see, hear, and communicate. The role requires frequent use of hands and arms and the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
