About the Position

Job Title: RN Centralized Registry Float Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Med Surg (Medical Surgical) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Nights Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience; 1 year of Med Surg experience at a large hospital (450+ beds) License: IN license or compact as of 7/1/20 required Certifications: BLS through AHA required Must-Have: Candidate must have at least 1.5 years of Level 1, Level 2 or tertiary experience. Candidate must have at least 1 year of experience at a facility with 450+ beds. BLS and IN license (or compact license as of 7/1/20) are required. Description: Candidate will be responsible for general medical and surgical nursing care. The unit will see a diverse population of patients with varying diagnoses. Chronic illnesses managed include COPD, Diabetes, CHF, and end-stage renal disease. Management of GI issues such as pancreatitis, bleeding, and inflammatory bowel diseases is required. Infections such as pneumonia, cellulitis, sepsis, and UTIs will also be managed. Patients with neurological issues including stroke and dementia will be cared for. The candidate may also work with patients experiencing mental health disorders. Patients may undergo procedures including colonoscopies, bronchoscopy, and minor surgeries. General job duties include assessments, care planning, and inter-professional communication. Utilization of the electronic health record (EHR) is required. Skills in IV therapy management, wound vacs, feeding pumps, and chest tubes are necessary. The candidate should be familiar with telemetry monitoring and related equipment. Patient ratios are expected to be between 1:5-6. Floating to other medical units may be required. 12-hour shifts with a rotation of three weekend shifts every four weeks are expected. Candidates should dress in Caribbean Blue scrubs. Training includes a general orientation followed by nursing-specific orientation and Epic classes.
