Administrative Officer
VETERANS HEALTH ADMINISTRATION
Summary This position is responsible for coordinating all administrative and clinical operations in CBOCs. The position requires operation knowledge of diverse healthcare management, clinical practices, and administration. Learn more about this agency Duties Help The duties of the administrative officer include but are not limited to,
- Use of operational knowledge of diverse healthcare management and clinical practices and administration.
- Serves as the point of contact for all regulatory and accrediting agencies who survey the CBOCs.
- Meets with Veterans to hear their issues, investigate those issues and either solve it or report it to the appropriate area.
- Provides oversight of all administrative and operational tasks performed at the CBOC.
- Acts as the Emergency Manager for the clinic and point of contact for unusual incidents occurring involving the welfare, injury, abuse of patients; loss of personal property, infractions of VAMC rules, emergencies, community disasters and internal disasters.
- Locates and interpret all applicable regulations. Has thorough knowledge of all aspects of PAS programs and knowledge of how they are interrelated to all other Medical Center services and programs.
- Has knowledge of analytical and evaluative methods and how regulatory or enforcement programs, including those of outside accrediting and regulatory bodies, are administered to select and apply appropriate program evaluation and measurement techniques in determining the extent of compliance with rules and regulations issued by the agency, or in measuring and evaluating program accomplishments.
- Receives project assignments and is typically delegated complete responsibility and authority to plan, schedule, and complete major projects regarding the analysis and evaluation of CBOC programs and/or organization effectiveness within timeframes established.
- Analyzes workflow to determine potential problem areas and suggests recommendations to correct these areas and to improve coordination between the various units and/or offices throughout the CBOC's and main facility. Identifies and recommends ways of eliminating, combining, simplifying, or improving procedures and processes.

- Participation in the seasonal influenza vaccination program is a requirement for all Department of Veterans Affairs Health Care Personnel (HCP)

- Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS07 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Coordinating and monitoring the functions of administrative services within an office; managing budget activities; assisting with contracting functions and managing procurement; assisting with human resources functions to include recruitment, position classification, performance, training, etc.; preparing letters, reports and presentations; retaining procurement records and reconciliations; making space utilization recommendations; developing policies, procedures, communications and other documents and time management. OR,
- Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed a master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or an LL.B. or J.D. in a related field that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of this position. OR,
- Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have an combination of specialized experience and education beyond successfully completed graduate level education (in excess of the first year or 18 semester hours) and specialized experience to meet total experience requirements.
