Job Overview Legal Executive Assistant – Patent Litigation at DLA Piper, San Diego, CA. This role supports multiple partners in the Patent Litigation practice, handling day‑to‑day administrative functions to allow attorneys to focus on client matters and practice development. Location and Work Arrangement Hybrid: works at least three days per week in the San Diego office. Responsibilities Complete major assignments and a broad variety of tasks supporting partner practice. Exercise judgment, delegate tasks to Legal Support Services team members while maintaining responsibility and tracking of all activities. Support the Patent Litigation trial team, including travel when required. Exercise discretion and professional judgment with confidential matters. Plan, coordinate, and maintain attorneys’ Outlook calendars and complex travel itineraries, resolving scheduling conflicts. Proactively keep attorneys informed of upcoming commitments and responsibilities; prepare materials and follow up. Draft letters, correspondence, reports, and other deliverables to enable partners to build the practice. Handle extensive client and external business interactions. Prepare agendas, reports, presentations, and confidential correspondence. Develop and maintain professional relationships; provide direction and feedback on projects. Coordinate department or practice group meetings, taking lead on logistics and participant engagement. Maintain paper and electronic filing systems in compliance with Information Governance policies. Oversee billing matters, including pre‑billing tasks, international billing, and liaising with billing and collections teams. Monitor client budgets for reporting purposes. Desired Skills and Qualifications Advanced computer skills in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Strong organizational and time‑management skills, managing multiple high‑priority projects simultaneously. Strong work ethic, flexibility, dependability, positive attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit good professional judgment. Education and Experience Minimum: High School Diploma or GED. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree. Minimum 5 years of executive administrative experience supporting partners and/or executives. Preferred experience in Patent Litigation, ITC, or IPR filings. Benefits and Compensation Hourly compensation range: $44.44 – $58.88 per hour, based on geographic market location. Non‑exempt positions paid hourly with overtime as applicable.
