Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment. Follow work‑related duties in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Complete all required safety, infection control, and age‑specific programs as prescribed. Document and communicate effects and effectiveness of therapy to ensure continuity of care with other members of the health care team. Use background knowledge and clinical skill to mentor students from clinical affiliates. Cardio‑Pulmonary Care Use background knowledge and clinical skills to assess patients’ cardiopulmonary status and implement an appropriate Respiratory Care Plan for the patient’s age group. Compare ordered therapy to patients’ cardiopulmonary status, recommending more appropriate, cost‑effective, or less invasive therapy when necessary. Explain the purpose and benefits of ordered therapy, teaching the patient proper therapy techniques to elicit cooperation and ensure effective therapy. Initiate and maintain cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS). With indirect supervision, conduct diagnostic tests to determine patients’ cardiopulmonary function. May perform bedside spirometry for the PFT lab when needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Education, Credentials, Licenses Registered Respiratory Therapist as certified by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). Current mandatory certification in the state to practice Respiratory Therapy where work is performed. Associate degree in applied science or equivalent. Maintain credential per NBRC Continuing Competency requirements; failure to maintain will result in demotion to Respiratory Technician. ACLS certification required post‑hire if not already certified. Specialized Knowledge Knowledge of mechanical ventilator support and cardiopulmonary function management. Experience in patient assessment and formulation of respiratory care plans.
