Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill - Rancho Cucamonga The main responsibility of a food runner is to deliver food to restaurant patrons. Once a customer places an order, the waiter or waitress communicates the order to the cook. After the meal is prepared, the food runner ensures that the plate arrives to the customer. Food runners are the last staff to see the meal before it reaches the customer, so it is important that they know what each dish is supposed to look like so nothing is missed. They handle the plates carefully and bring them out in a timely manner to maintain optimal food temperature. Food runners must have a moderate level of physical capability. They should be in good shape, able to work well under pressure, and be on their feet for long periods of time, sometimes up to eight hours. They may need to carry up to 20 pounds and help busboys move tubs filled with plates out of the dining area. Accepting the physical demands requires nimbleness and flexibility to move around tight spaces. #J-18808-Ljbffr
