Job Title: Sterile Processing Technician

Experience:
- 2 years of certified experience in a tertiary setting
- OR 1 year of certified experience with 4 years of Sterile Processing Technician experience in a tertiary setting
License/Certifications:
- Sterile processing certification (CRCST or CSPD) must not expire during the term of the assignment
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
Must-Have:
- Ability to lift/carry 25 pounds
- Manual dexterity
- Ability to stand, bend, lift, and reach for extended periods of time
- Effective communication skills in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to follow oral and/or written instructions
Description:
Large, busy state-of-the-art off-site reprocessing center providing sterile processing services for multiple facilities.
Facility also provides emergency services for the area.
Disassembles, cleans, sterilizes, reassembles, and packages sterile supplies according to specifications and manufacturer instructions while following department protocols.
Operates washers, sterilizers, ultrasonic machines, steam and ethylene oxide sterilizers, heat sealers, and additional equipment during sterilization procedures.
Adheres to instrument count sheets for surgical sets and case carts.
Retrieves used trays, instruments, and equipment from various surgical and clinical areas for decontamination.
Examines instruments and patient care equipment for cleanliness, proper assembly, and functionality.
Identifies malfunctioning items, records related information, and promptly notifies supervisor or biomedical engineer.
Assists in ordering, stocking, and maintaining department inventory levels.
Performs required duties to maintain a contaminant-free work environment.
Scrubs provided must be laundered at the facility.
Shoes, jewelry, hair, and beard must be covered.
No nail polish permitted.
