Public Affairs Specialist

Summary This position is located at US Mint,Office of the Director. As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will plan, design, develop, and disseminate public affairs information and materials to inform and educate the public about bureau programs, products and services. Duties As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will: Plan, develop and execute special events for new coin and medal programs and programs highlighting the Mint's mission and history. Draft and edit talking points, speeches, scripts, articles, press releases, event announcements, displays, and other types of multi-media presentations, including PowerPoint, consistent with bureau messages and priorities. Use a variety of methods and techniques to achieve communication goals such as personal appearances, presentations, exhibits, newsletters, brochures, pamphlets, social media posts, etc. Be responsible for all Social Media content management, working alongside other Mint divisions such as Sales and Marketing, to develop cohesive, consistent messaging. Qualifications You must meet the following requirements within 14 days of the closing date of this announcement. The experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. For the GS-12, you must have one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized experience or General experience for this position includes: Participate in planning, advising, writing, and disseminating public affairs information and materials to include speeches, letters, emails, correspondence, articles, and press releases to inform and educate the public about Agency/Organization programs. In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable: For the GS-12 you must have been at the GS-11 level for 52 weeks. Requirements All employees must wear face masks while on MINT property when required by CDC and Federal guidelines. All newly appointed employees to the competitive (or excepted) service are subject to a probationary (or trial) period. During this time, your performance, conduct, and suitability for continued employment will be evaluated.
