Job Title: Custodian Agency: Southern Regional Technical College Job Requisition ID: JR0000002022 Shift: Day (United States of America) Compensation Details: $29,120 JOB SUMMARY The Custodian is responsible for the custodial maintenance of assigned college buildings and facilities. MAJOR DUTIES Service, clean, and supply restrooms Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming Gather and empty trash to include parking lots, exterior trash receptacles, and interior trash receptacles Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications Clean windows, glass partitions, or mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, or squeegees Notify managers concerning the need for major repairs or additions to building operating systems Requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties Dust furniture, walls, machines, or equipment Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors Clean and polish furniture and fixtures Steam clean or shampoo carpets Move heavy furniture, equipment, or supplies, either manually or by using hand trucks Monitor building security and safety by performing tasks such as locking doors after operating hours or checking electrical appliance use to ensure that hazards are not created Weed exterior grounds using hands, tools, or weed killer, and clear debris from grounds Set up, arrange, or remove decorations, tables, chairs, ladders, or scaffolding to prepare facilities for events, such as banquets or meetings Participates in assessment, planning, budgeting, and professional development activities Performs other duties as assigned TOOLS USED Brooms — Push brooms Carpet cleaning equipment — Carpet shampooers Desktop computers Dollies — Equipment dollies Dust mops — Dry mops Ear plugs — Protective ear plugs Floor polishers — Floor buffers Floor waxers Floor scrapers — Floor strippers Floor scrubbers — Power floor scrubbers Hand sprayers — Insecticide sprayers Hand trucks or accessories — Hand trucks Ladders — Extension ladders; Step ladders Pressure or steam cleaners — Steam cleaning equipment Protective gloves — Safety gloves Safety glasses Squeegees or washers — Window squeegees Vacuum cleaners — Industrial vacuums; Ride-on industrial vacuum cleaners Wet mops KNOWLEDGE Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services.
