Job Description
PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

The PACU Registered Nurse will provide essential care to patients in the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This role involves monitoring patient recovery, administering medications, and providing critical post-operative care following surgical or invasive procedures.

Shift Details

• Day Shift: 4x12-Hour (06:00 - 18:30)
• Weekend Requirement: One weekend per month
• Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 holiday bundles (Thanksgiving & the day after, Christmas Eve & Christmas Day, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day)

Key Responsibilities

• Provide pre-operative and post-operative care for patients undergoing catheterization and interventional radiology procedures.
• Ensure patient safety and satisfaction during recovery by closely monitoring vital signs and patient behavior.
• Administer medications and manage pain control as directed by the physician.
• Document patient care and progress accurately using Cerner electronic health record systems.
• Communicate effectively with healthcare team members to coordinate patient care.
• Be prepared to float to the Holding area within the PACU as needed.

Qualifications

• MUST have a minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in a PACU setting, with Level 1 trauma and telemetry experience.
• Current certifications required: BCLS, ACLS, PALS.
• Open to accepting first-time travelers upon screening.
• Must be willing to take on-call shifts as needed (1-2 overnight call shifts monthly).
• Candidates with pending licenses are accepted.

Special Requirements

Candidates must adhere to RTO restrictions, with requests for time off greater than seven days requiring approval. Local candidates within 100 miles are not eligible for this position. Guaranteed hours are set at 36 hours per week, with the facility having the option to call off staff up to three times during a 13-week assignment.

Facility Description

This role is situated within a Level I Trauma, Teaching, and Children's Hospital with a total of 554 staffed beds. The environment fosters professional growth in a dynamic and fast-paced acute care setting.

Additional Information

COVID-19 vaccination is optional, but reporting of vaccination status is required. All contracts and extensions must be a minimum of 10 weeks in duration. A 6-month break is mandatory for any travelers who have completed 4 consecutive assignments or reached a one-year mark, whichever comes first.
