Production Coordinator

Job Description

Our client is seeking a Production Coordinator to oversee daily manufacturing operations at a 24/7 cement grinding and distribution facility. This position is a highly visible leadership role responsible for driving safety, production efficiency, quality, inventory management, and employee performance while ensuring the plant consistently meets production targets.

The Production Coordinator will work onsite Monday through Friday from 7:00 AM – 5:00 PM and will provide leadership and support outside of normal business hours as needed to support a continuous operation. This individual will directly manage 4 Production Supervisors and indirectly support a team of approximately 21 employees, including Production Operators and other plant personnel.

The ideal candidate will have experience in a manufacturing or industrial production environment, strong leadership capabilities, SAP proficiency, and the ability to learn and optimize complex production processes. This person will collaborate closely with Maintenance, Shipping, Quality, and Plant Leadership teams to achieve operational excellence and continuous improvement.

Skills and Requirements

• Lead daily operations of a 24/7 manufacturing facility and drive production targets.

• Supervise 4 Production Supervisors and support a team of 21 production employees.

• Manage production scheduling, staffing, and shift coverage.

• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards.

• Monitor production performance, downtime, inventory, and reporting through SAP.

• Coordinate raw material deliveries, unloading operations, and inventory management.

• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce costs.

• Partner with Maintenance, Shipping, and Quality teams to support plant operations.

• Coach employees, conduct performance reviews, and maintain accountability across the team.

• Support budgeting, purchasing, and operational planning activities.

• Provide leadership support for after-hours operational needs in a continuous-production environment. Experience in:

• Cement manufacturing

• Aggregates

• Mining

• Heavy industrial manufacturing

• Chemical processing

• Building materials production

Prior leadership of union-represented employees.

OSHA training or strong safety program experience.

Experience with SAP in a manufacturing environment.

Knowledge of quality systems and laboratory testing processes.

Experience managing inventory, shipping, or supply chain operations involving imported raw materials.

Exposure to process control systems, PLCs, or industrial automation.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, Manufacturing, or a related field.
