RN Clinical Staff Nurse - EmPATH - Full Time Nights $7 differential

Position Summary The EmPATH Registered Nurse is a skilled and experienced professional Registered Nurse (RN) responsible for excellence in the clinical practice of nursing and the management of patient care. Reporting to the EmPATH Manager, the RN has 12‑hour accountability for organizing, planning, directing, coordinating, and providing high‑quality, individualized patient/family‑centered care based on the Watson Model of Care for a defined group of patients, including identification and demonstration of abilities to meet special needs and considerations of age and population‑specific awareness. This position requires full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the Mission of Martin Luther King, Jr. Community Hospital and is expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with the Core Values. The employee shall support the hospital’s strategic plan and the goals and direction of the quality and performance improvement process activities. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Provides nursing care to mental‑health clients with potentially unstable and ever‑changing conditions. Collaborates with physicians to evaluate suicidal, homicidal, or psychotic tendencies and makes admission decisions for higher‑level care. Oversees direct patient care, performs assessments, determines Behavioral Health eligibility for 5150 designation, and ensures safety at all times. Provides treatment and discharge planning by interfacing with physicians, providers, families, and all relevant internal and external resources. Demonstrates the nursing process as a problem‑solving model, using knowledge and experience to anticipate and plan meeting patient and family needs. Focuses nursing assessment on areas most productive for the given population or situation, recognizes subtle changes, evaluates and appropriately alters the plan of care, and ensures follow‑through. Aligns with the hospital’s mission, vision, and values in all interactions with patients, families, and co‑workers. Develops and maintains a therapeutic nurse/patient relationship, respects patient rights, and conducts hourly rounding. Communicates using SBAR during all hand‑off situations. Documents patient care, including assessment, implementation, evaluation, and Watson Model of Care, following unit‑specific and hospital policies. Demonstrates commitment to meeting learning needs of patients and families using appropriate resources for positive outcomes. Reviews orders, communicates changes in patient condition with physicians and team members, and follows up on revised care. Plans, supervises, instructs, and evaluates ancillary nursing personnel, floats, orientees, and registry staff; ensures an evaluation is completed each shift. Upholds professional appearance and adherence to dress code, wears hospital ID, and promotes proper identification. Maintains a safe and clean environment that complies with regulatory standards, including Patient Safety Goals. Participates in unit‑specific Quality and Performance Improvement Plan, completes monitoring forms, and reports findings to the EmPATH Manager. Other duties as assigned. Position Requirements Education: Associate's degree in nursing or equivalent; BSN preferred. Qualifications & Experience: Minimum 2 years as an RN in an acute adult outpatient or inpatient psychiatric unit, with background and knowledge of psychiatric and medical‑surgical illnesses and treatment. Licensing: Current California Nursing license. Current BLS certification. AVADE within 90 days of hire. Special Skills: Bilingual skills preferred (Spanish). Basic computer skills.
