Integrated CAD Modeler & QA/QC Coordinator for Engineering Projects

Imagine this

Morning: a project manager hands you sketches and specs. You turn them into accurate 2D/3D general arrangement and manufacturing drawings, build a clean BOM, run through tolerance implications, and confirm materials meet code and safety expectations. Midday: you walk the floor, inspecting a first article against your drawing package, checking critical dimensions, and verifying purchased parts. You speak with a subcontractor to align on design requirements and flag nonconformances. Afternoon: you document findings, trigger corrective actions, revise drawings, and sit in on a design review to support testing protocols and a bid evaluation. Before day’s end, you update equipment lists, trackers, and project checklists, and add to the operations and maintenance manual for turnover.

Core responsibilities

• Produce, modify, and manage high-quality AutoCAD and SolidWorks models/drawings (GA, manufacturing, installation).
• Interpret engineering sketches, specifications, and inputs into complete, build-ready documentation.
• Prepare BOMs, evaluate tolerances, select materials, and ensure compliance with codes, safety standards, and internal requirements.
• Inspect first articles and finished products; perform QC checks on fabricated and purchased items.
• Partner with subcontractors to validate alignment with project design requirements.
• Record and report quality outcomes; drive corrective actions; support design reviews, testing protocols, and bid evaluations.
• Maintain calculations, drawings, specifications, and equipment lists; participate in technical problem-solving.
• Support project management with tracking systems and checklists; assemble O&M manuals for final handoff.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of drafting/design experience with AutoCAD and SolidWorks.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, CAD, or related technical field.
• Strong command of engineering principles, drafting standards, and manufacturing processes.
• Fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
• Detail-obsessed, organized, and an effective communicator.
• Comfortable working solo and within cross-functional teams.
• Mindful of environmental and safety considerations throughout design and fabrication.
