Information Technology Technical Support Analyst II – Correctional Health Services Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) is hiring emergency Information Technology Technical Support Analyst II positions related to the DOJ Consent Decree. Hiring will commence immediately and may be extended for up to 90 days, with a possibility of permanent employment based on performance assessment. About the Position Reporting to the IT department, the analyst will provide full‐range technical information technology support services, including installation, configuration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of hardware, software, networks, and applications. The role involves working on-site in designated correctional facilities to support the unique healthcare needs of the jail population. Key Responsibilities Install, configure, maintain, and test computer hardware, software, and peripheral equipment. Serve as a technical resource to end users and IT staff; diagnose and resolve moderate to complex hardware, software, and network connectivity problems, including issues not covered by established procedures. Identify trends in service calls and implement system improvements. Analyze and recommend user support needs or enhancements to improve customer satisfaction. Develop and test user instructions and procedures; conduct formal and informal end‑user training and create technical orientation materials as required. Lead small hardware and software installation and upgrade projects; participate in larger or more complex projects with general direction. Assist in defining and recommending appropriate hardware and software configurations and standards; develop specifications for purchasing new equipment according to departmental standards. Configure software distribution tools and coordinate license ordering with appropriate management. Coordinate equipment delivery, software licensing compliance, and inventory/asset control as needed. Act in a lead capacity with other technical staff as required. Minimum Requirements Option I: One (1) year of experience at the level of an IT Technical Support Analyst I, defined as providing full support services under close supervision. Option II: Two (2) years of experience installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing client computing devices or software in a centralized Information Technology organization. Applicants must meet at least one of the above options in order to be considered for appointment. Licenses & Physical Requirements • A valid California Class C Driver’s License or alternative transportation method for essential functions. • Physical Class III – Moderate: the incumbent must stand or walk most of the time, lift objects up to 25 pounds, and perform tasks that require bending, stooping, squatting, and twisting. Additional Information This position may require work during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays. A 20% recruitment and retention bonus may be available for full‑time hires working on‑site in designated correctional facilities.
