Role Description The Clinical Service Manager is a full-time, on-site role based at the San Francisco, CA campus. This role oversees daily clinical operations for an assigned service or unit, ensuring safe, high-quality, and efficient patient care. Responsibilities typically include supervising and supporting clinical staff, coordinating schedules and staffing levels, monitoring patient flow, and aligning practice with evidence-based guidelines and hospital policies. The Clinical Service Manager collaborates with physicians, nurses, allied health professionals, and administrative teams to optimize workflows, enhance patient and family experiences, and meet regulatory and accreditation standards. The role also involves tracking key performance indicators, leading quality and safety initiatives, managing budgets and resources for the service, and contributing to staff education, competency development, and performance reviews. Qualifications Demonstrated ability to lead and manage clinical teams, including experience with staff supervision, mentoring, performance management, and conflict resolution. Strong skills in clinical operations, such as patient flow coordination, staffing and scheduling, resource allocation, and process improvement. Solid understanding of quality and safety principles, including regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, risk management, and evidence-based practice. Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across disciplines and build constructive relationships with patients, families, and colleagues. Proficiency in using clinical information systems, electronic health records, and basic data analysis tools to monitor performance and support decision-making. Relevant clinical licensure or certification (e.g., RN or other applicable credential) in good standing, as required for the specific service area. Experience in pediatric or acute care settings is highly beneficial, especially within an academic or teaching hospital environment. Bachelor’s degree in a health-related field, healthcare administration, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.
