Urgent Care Practical Radiology Technologist

Position Summary Radiologic Technologist (PTR) – located in Phoenix, Arizona (Zone 9). The role is part of the Banner Urgent Care team, providing chest and extremity radiographic procedures and supporting clinicians and nursing staff in patient care. The schedule is 3 days per week (8:00 a.m.–8:30 p.m.) with 2 weekend shifts per month; weekend work is required. Core Functions Prepares patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements; documents pain scores and reports any changes in patient condition to the clinician. Performs the setup, acquisition, and processing of prescribed radiographic procedures within the scope of the license and in accordance with established policies and procedures; educates patients/families regarding the procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Assists providers with exams and minor in‑office procedures (e.g., blood pressure, respiration, heart rate/pulse, temperature, phlebotomies, ear irrigation, EKGs); acts as chaperone as needed; uses universal precautions and PPE; prioritizes patient flow through the clinical process. Coordinates and manages patient care including pre‑certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling of patients for clinic, hospital, and ancillary medical treatments and tests; communicates test results to patient and acts as a resource to the clinician; may administer medications as directed. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation in accordance with departmental policies; ensures complete medical records, labs, authorizations, X‑rays, hospital records, and other pertinent information for billing. Maintains a clean, functional environment; cleans and disinfects equipment and instruments, performs basic maintenance, evaluates equipment quality control, troubleshoots problems, and notifies appropriate personnel. Orders supplies, stocks patient care areas, monitors inventory (medications, injectables, immunizations), and completes onboarding/orientation activities including simulation training. Ensures efficient department operation by coordinating patient workflow, stocking exam rooms, establishing patient transport, and scheduling coordination with multidisciplinary team members. Independently performs prescribed radiographic procedures within the scope of the license; serves as a medical assistant under direct supervision of providers; interacts with physicians, patients, families, external contacts, and staff across departments; prioritizes data to support patient and family responses to changes in health status. Minimum Qualifications High school diploma, GED, or equivalent working knowledge. National certification as a Practical Radiologic Technologist or limited‑scope licensure by state regulatory agency. Demonstrated competent performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (BLS) for adults, children, and infants every two years. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to manage multiple changing priorities in an effective, organized manner. Strong computer skills, including proficiency with medical software. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge from graduation of an accredited Medical Assisting Program. Experience with office medical procedures, treatments, insurance, managed care operations, EMR, and scheduling software. Additional related education or experience preferred.
