Jr. Accountant - Global Freight Forwarder (35851)

A Global Logistics company is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Jr. Accounting professional to join their team in Jamaica, NY. The ideal candidate will support daily accounting operations, collaborate with internal teams, and contribute to accurate financial reporting within a fast-paced freight forwarding environment. This is a direct hire, full time and 100% onsite work setting.

Jr. Accountant Key Responsibilities:

• Manage credit control and monitor customer accounts
• Handle Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) processes
• Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy of financial records
• Arrange a Payment via Check and/or ACH
• Communicate and collaborate with HQ accounting team (5 staff members)
• Liaise with local branch offices, operations teams, and branch managers via email and phone
• Learn and utilize internal accounting system (CODA) to run reports and post journal entries
• Coordinate overseas settlements with international offices and agents
• Assist with financial reporting and support the Accounting Manager

Jr. Accountant Qualifications:

• Associate degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent experience)
• Proficiency in English (written and verbal)
• Japanese language skill is a big asset but not mandatory
• Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables), Word, and Outlook
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work in a team-oriented, fast-paced environment
• Experience in freight forwarding or logistics industry is preferred
• Familiarity with CargoWise, Descartes (ONEVIEW), or similar systems
• Experience with accounting systems (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks)
