General Description of Duties GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES
The mission of the Leon County's Office of Intervention and Detention Alternatives is to provide information to the courts, which support judicial custody release decisions, and provide alternatives to incarceration to persons accused of crimes and offenders, which hold them accountable, improve their ability to live lawfully and productively in the community, enhance the overall administration of justice, and support community safety and well-being. This position requires shift work including weekend and holidays to support services provide by OIDA to the Leon County Criminal Justice System including interviews, assessments, and releases at the Leon County Detention Facility, case management, and attending court hearings.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Supervise pre- and post-sentenced individuals assigned to the Office of Intervention and Detention Alternatives for compliance with all court ordered conditions (substance testing, mental health and substance use disorder counseling, educational programs, etc.).
Conduct interviews and risk assessments of all arrestees booked into the Leon County Detention Facility to determine eligibility for release (non-monetary or monetary) prior to First Appearance in accordance with Administrative Order governing Pretrial Release through 24/7 shift rotations.
Provide complete and accurate criminal history record information (CHRI) based on local justice information systems, Department of Corrections, and FCIC/NCIC records to assist the courts in release decisions and conditions of release to enhance public safety.
Timely and accurate submission of court documents (Order to Show Cause, Violation of Probation Affidavits, Technical Violation Notifications, etc.) to notify of non-compliance or completion of court ordered conditions to the courts.
Assist pre- and post-sentence offenders with referrals to community partners for essential human services (housing, transportation, employment placement assistance) to assist them in successful completion of community supervision and future involvement with the criminal justice system.
Notification of electronic monitoring (GPS location tracking and alcohol detection) through completed enrollment forms to the service provider to ensure activation and proper supervision of court ordered conditions. Respond and resolve EM violations escalated by 24/7 service provider in accordance with standard operating procedures.
Provide assistance to Probation/Pretrial Officer I staff for guidance and compliance with standard operating procedures in all areas of operations (case management, intake, releases electronic monitoring, etc.). Serve as back-up to Probation/Pretrial Officers in the absence of assigned partner. Attend court hearings (First Appearances, Violation of Probation, etc.) to represent the department and provide current information regarding offender criminal history or compliance court ordered conditions based on case management records.
OTHER IMPORTANT OR MARGINAL DUTIES Accepts and completes other related duties as assigned by the supervisor and/or director. Follows chain of command. Follow instructions and directions given at the time of assignment and/or standard office procedures. All Leon County employees (regular full-time and part-time, OPS, and PRN) are required to work before, during and after a Declared Local State of Emergency (DLSOE). Participation is considered a condition of employment.
DIFFICULTY
Duties are performed under general supervision and are reviewed upon completion for effectiveness in meeting division objectives. Work also requires the ability to exercise discretion while working with a diverse clientele. Independent judgment is needed for in-depth analysis of client's ability to comply with court ordered obligations. Duties require balancing numerous deadlines and reshuffling of priorities on a daily bases and dealing with sensitive issues continuously.

EQUIPMENT AND TOOLS USED
Personal computer, word processing software, spreadsheet software, database software, specialized software such as Probation Case Management, Pretrial Case Management, Drug and Alcohol Testing Module, FCIC/NCIC, CCIS), fax machine, adding machine, and telephone are some of the equipment and tools used.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Most work is performed indoors at a desk, usually seated in a chair. Physical effort such as standing, walking, sitting, pushing, reaching, and hearing over the phone is exerted.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Florida criminal justice system, including Florida Statutes, reading and interpreting criminal court dockets and judicial orders.
Ability to interview arrestees in a detention facility setting. Experience with case management procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, diplomatically in writing and verbally.
Ability to initiate and follow through on assignments with attention to detail and minimal direct supervision.
Ability to complete tasks in basic computer software (Word, Excel, Smartsheet, etc.). MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Requires a minimum of an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, Social Work, or related degree. Three years experience is required, five years experience is preferred.
