Job Description

The Mobile Engineer 2 serves as a mobile HVAC service technician responsible for comprehensive preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of commercial building systems across multiple sites within a defined territory. This role focuses on HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and related building systems while delivering high-quality service, maintaining strong client relationships, and supporting safe, reliable facility operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and emergency repair services on commercial HVAC systems, including packaged units, air handlers, chillers, and associated equipment.
• Maintain, operate, and troubleshoot electrical distribution systems, plumbing systems, building automation controls, and fire and life safety systems.
• Execute assigned work orders using computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) technology with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
• Conduct facility inspections and due diligence assessments, documenting conditions that may impact building performance and client operations.
• Travel to multiple commercial properties within the assigned territory using a company vehicle, providing consistent and reliable service across all sites.
• Plan, prioritize, and organize work assignments independently to meet service expectations and respond to changing needs across multiple locations.
• Identify and recommend energy savings opportunities through optimization of HVAC and building systems, supporting efficient and sustainable operations.
• Maintain professional and courteous relationships with property management teams and building occupants, communicating clearly about work performed and system status.
• Perform building envelope maintenance and repairs, including interior and exterior work, grounds maintenance, and parking lot systems support as needed.
• Operate and maintain production and facility equipment relevant to assigned properties, ensuring safe and efficient operation.
• Study and maintain proficiency with various building systems, equipment, and emerging technologies to continuously improve technical capabilities.
• Respond to on-call duties and overtime requirements as business needs dictate, including participation in an on-call rotation approximately every three weeks.
• Adhere to all safety procedures and use appropriate tools and equipment, including electrical meters and diagnostic devices, to perform work safely and effectively.
• Complete technical documentation and service reports in clear English, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and communication.
• Manage time effectively, work independently, and adapt to changing priorities and emergency situations while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Essential Skills

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 4 years of technical experience in commercial building engineering with strong experience in HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems.
• Universal EPA/CFC certification.
• Valid state drivers license with a clean driving record.
• Basic HVAC knowledge of chillers and experience working with commercial HVAC systems.
• Knowledge of overall mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) and HVAC system design and applications.
• Ability to lift up to 80 pounds and perform frequent climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and overhead work.
• Ability to work safely from heights up to 30 feet using proper safety equipment.
• Comfort working in various environmental conditions, including extreme temperatures and adverse weather.
• Capability to climb ladders while carrying a tool bag of up to 20 pounds.
• Proficiency with hand and power tools, electrical meters, and diagnostic equipment.
• Advanced troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities for HVAC and building systems.
• Excellent verbal, written, and digital communication skills.
• Strong time management skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Customer service orientation with a professional and respectful demeanor.
• Adaptability to changing priorities, emergency situations, and diverse facility conditions.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Technical training or trade school degree in a relevant field is preferred.
• Commercial experience with HVAC systems beyond residential applications.
• Experience with building automation systems and CMMS technology.
• Strong English language skills, including the ability to prepare and interpret technical documentation.
• Previous experience in a commercial facilities service environment.
• Familiarity with building envelope maintenance, grounds maintenance, and parking lot systems.
• Comfort with extended periods of driving between locations within a defined territory.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain professional client relationships and collaborate with property management teams.

Work Environment

This is a territory-based, mobile role supporting multiple commercial client sites within Indian River County, St. Lucie County, Martin County, and North Palm Beach. The position typically operates on a first shift schedule, Monday through Friday from approximately 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a half-hour lunch, and includes participation in an on-call rotation about every three weeks, with overtime as business needs require. Work is performed in and around commercial buildings, mechanical rooms, rooftops, parking lots, and grounds, often involving exposure to extreme temperatures and varied environmental conditions. The role requires frequent driving between locations in a company vehicle, as well as regular climbing, bending, lifting, kneeling, and overhead work, including working from heights up to 30 feet with appropriate safety equipment. You will use a range of hand and power tools, electrical meters, diagnostic equipment, and CMMS technology to complete tasks and document work. Attire should be appropriate for a professional commercial facilities environment and suitable for physical work, including use of required personal protective equipment.

This is a Contract position based out of Fort Lauderdale, FL.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
