Dining Services Associate

Pay & Hours Pay range: $15 - $18 per hour. Part‑time; Every other weekend is required. Location and Schedule When: Every Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. Location: 4916 W Norfolk Road, Portsmouth, VA. The Dining Services Associate assists the Dining Services Director in creating and executing the signature dining services program at the community. The Associate provides friendly, responsive service to create an exceptional dining experience for all residents, embodying Commonwealth Senior Living’s core values. Qualifications Certification in the Food Handlers Course or equivalent. Previous experience in the food service industry. Ability to read and write English. Willingness and ability to learn new tasks. Must be available to work varied shifts and weekends. Ability to lift heavy objects; stand and walk short distances throughout the day. Tolerance for kitchen heat. Must be free of communicable diseases. Areas of Primary Responsibility Prepare and serve nutritious meals to residents in a safe, sanitary manner in accordance with Public Health Regulations and Sanitation Code. Be familiar with Hazardous Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS). Ensure a clean, safe working environment by practicing safe work habits, proper hand‑washing techniques, and routine cleaning. Serve attractive, nutritious meals in a pleasant, respectful manner, mindful of residents’ special needs. Use all equipment safely and maintain it according to cleaning schedules. Prepare dining rooms daily: set tables, pour beverages, clear and clean dishes. Upon receiving stock, put it away following the required procedures. Follow cleaning procedures when mechanical equipment is unavailable (e.g., power failure). Perform other duties as directed by the Dining Services Director. Other duties as assigned.
