Practice Support Representative

Location: Lake Katrine, NY – Optum
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM, with rotation for Urgent Care coverage from 11:00 AM–8:00 PM and Saturdays 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
Education: High School Diploma/GED or equivalent
Pay: 20/hr (Paid Weekly)
Dress Code: Business casual; no jeans or sandals. Optum attire is permitted.
Contract to Hire: 08/24/2026 to 11/30/2026

Position Overview

We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and customer-focused  Practice Support Representative to support daily front-office operations at an Optum healthcare location. This position will assist patients throughout their visit while helping ensure an efficient and positive patient experience.

The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of customer service experience , strong computer skills, and the ability to interact professionally and patiently with patients, providers, and staff.

Key Responsibilities

• Greet and assist patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
• Check patients in and out for scheduled appointments.
• Schedule and coordinate patient appointments.
• Manage work queues and assigned administrative tasks.
• Assist patients with questions and direct them to the appropriate resources.
• Enter and maintain accurate patient information within applicable systems.
• Support providers and clinical staff with daily administrative needs.
• Handle customer interactions with patience, professionalism, and empathy.
• Maintain confidentiality and follow applicable healthcare policies and procedures.
• Complete additional administrative duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• At least 1 year of customer service experience .
• Strong computer and basic technology skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a healthcare environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous healthcare or medical office experience.
• Experience with patient scheduling or front-desk operations.
• Strong patient/customer interaction skills.
• Pleasant, patient, and professional demeanor.
• Ability to quickly learn new computer systems and workflows.

Schedule Requirements

The standard schedule is  Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM , with required rotation for Urgent Care coverage:

• Urgent Care Rotation: 11:00 AM–8:00 PM
• Saturday Rotation: 9:00 AM–1:00 PM
