Department Overview Located in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is offering an opportunity for a full-time Pediatric CVICU APP. Function/Duties of Position Deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality care in a fast-paced PICU environment Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop evidence-based treatment plans Manage acute and chronic critical illness Interpret diagnostic studies and manage advanced therapies Prescribe and adjust medications with thoughtful risk assessment Provide anticipatory guidance to families and caregivers Maintain thorough, timely EMR documentation This role is 100% clinically focused , allowing you to concentrate fully on patient care excellence. Who You Are You are a pediatric-trained Advanced Practice Provider who: Has an active Oregon Medical License Has experience caring for pediatric patients in an intensive care setting Demonstrates sound clinical judgment under pressure Communicates clearly and compassionately with families and multidisciplinary teams Thrives in environments that require prioritization and decisive action Is comfortable managing multiple high-acuity patients simultaneously Is proficient with electronic medical records and clinical systems You are dependable, professional, and committed to the highest standards of clinical and ethical practice. The physical demands are typical of an inpatient hospital environment and require full mobility and stamina appropriate for extended clinical coverage. This role is structured to meet contract-defined work expectations 173 x 12 hour shifts per year, including weekday, weekends and holidays. Clinical Activities Clinical Activities (not related to assigned administrative, education, or research FTE teaching or research): Direct Pediatric Critical Care patients Independent and shared billing Weekdays Department specific activities: Assure the safe, efficient, high quality and customer oriented management of patient care to the pediatric critical care population, including but not limited to completing a comprehensive assessment of the patient’s status; developing, monitoring and revising, as appropriate, an evidence-based treatment plan that addresses diagnoses, patterns of disease, risk factors, and treatment alternatives; treat many common acute and chronic health problems; interpret diagnostic tests; prescribe and manage medications and other therapies; provide health teaching with an emphasis on anticipatory guidance and risks of complications of therapy Indirect (if applicable): Indirect patient care includes discharge planning, activities supporting direct patient care, including but not limited to EPIC in-basket management/coverage & MyChart messages, closing charts, reviewing results, phone calls, patient care coordination, caseload management, court or legal appearances related to work cases (e.g., subpoenas), care conferences, work group huddles, non-RVU generating patient care and non-billable patient care. All APPs are expected to support the clinical, education, and research mission of OHSU through routine clinical care that includes working with students, trainees, and patients participating in research, consistent with their role, scope of practice, and applicable contract and institutional policies. Required Qualifications Education: Successful completion of a Master Degree in Nursing or Master of Science in Nursing in the specialty of Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP), or Adult-Gerontology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (AG ACNP) from an accredited program, a recognized APRN specialty (Certified Nurse Midwife, Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, or Nurse Practitioner),

Successful completion of a Master Degree in Physician Assistant/Associate Studies from an accredited program. Experience: Prior experience in Pediatric Critical Care. Job Related Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Ability to manage heavy workload with multiple priorities and inflexible deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Proficient in the use of computing hardware and software, including personal computing equipment, electronic medical record, word processing. Regular and consistent attendance at work. Registrations, Certifications and/or Licenses: Current RN and APRN NP licensure with the Oregon Board of Nursing. Current national ANCC Certification in the area of specialization. Current BLS, ACLS or PALS Certification as indicated for the position. DEA Certification.
