Minimum 6 months Paraprofessional or Special Education experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A rewarding opportunity awaits just north of Philadelphia for an experienced and compassionate Paraprofessional, PCA, or Behavior Specialist. This part-time contract position focuses on supporting a 17-year-old boy with Autism and an intellectual disability within a close-knit, single-building school district. Your role will be pivotal in helping him thrive throughout his school day.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing direct personal care assistance, including toileting, during school hours (Tuesdays and Thursdays, 8:30 am – 4:00 pm)
- Supporting the student’s classroom participation and transitions between activities
- Encouraging social, emotional, and academic development through consistent, individualized strategies
- Working collaboratively with educators and therapists to ensure consistency of support
- Providing a safe, nurturing environment that respects the student’s dignity and fosters independence
Qualifications and experience:
- Previous experience as a Paraprofessional, PCA, or Behavior Specialist in a school setting
- Background working with children or adolescents with Autism and intellectual disabilities is highly preferred
- Strong communication, patience, and adaptability are essential
- Must hold current Pennsylvania clearances (required for school employment)
- Ability to work Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm
