Automation Engineer
Location: Marshall, MI
Seeking experienced Automation Engineers for a new battery manufacturing facility in Marshall, Michigan.
Candidates must possess a dual skill set in Ford FAST , Siemens TIA Portal , and FANUC robot programming . Each Automation Engineer will be responsible for the complete automation of an assigned manufacturing cell, including programming, integration, troubleshooting, and support for both the Siemens PLC and FANUC industrial robot .
Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of assigned manufacturing cell automation .
- Develop, modify, and troubleshoot Siemens PLC programming using TIA Portal .
- Program, configure, and optimize FANUC industrial robots .
- Apply Ford FAST standards to automation controls and programming.
- Integrate PLC, robot, safety, and manufacturing equipment within each automated cell.
- Perform controls system commissioning , startup, testing, and validation.
- Troubleshoot electrical, robotic, PLC, communication, and automation-related issues.
- Optimize automated equipment for reliability, cycle time, quality, and production performance.
- Support equipment installation, launch activities, and ongoing manufacturing operations.
- Maintain accurate controls documentation, program backups, and system change records.
- Collaborate with maintenance, manufacturing, electrical, mechanical, and process engineering teams.
- Ensure automation systems comply with applicable safety, quality, and production requirements.
Qualifications
- Professional experience as an Automation Engineer , Controls Engineer , or Robotics Engineer in an industrial manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on experience with Ford FAST programming standards .
- Advanced experience programming Siemens PLCs using Siemens TIA Portal .
- Hands-on experience with FANUC robot programming , setup, integration, and troubleshooting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage the complete automation scope of a manufacturing cell.
- Experience with PLC programming , robot integration , and industrial automation systems .
- Strong knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment, control panels, industrial networks, and machine safety.
- Experience with controls commissioning, equipment startup, debugging, and production support.
- Ability to diagnose complex automation and robotic system issues independently.
- Strong communication, documentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Marshall, Michigan.
