Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon, seeks energetic and teaching-focused candidates for one full-time, 172-day Art Instructor in ceramics. Chemeketa serves a large, diverse three county area through its central campus in Salem, a network of satellite campuses and centers, and by being a statewide leader in online education. This teaching assignment may include art courses outside of ceramics such as design classes and/or Understanding Art that use non-traditional delivery methodologies such as: remote, hybrid, and/or online. Instructional Program Responsibilities:
- Participates in curriculum development; recommends course outline revisions
- Recommends textbooks and other instructional materials and equipment; recommends library and reference materials
- Contributes suggestions for annual department budget
- Keeps up to date on technological changes and developments in subject area
- Attends staff meetings and participates in designated committee work; represents the department at pertinent meetings as required
- Promotes positive image of college and college programs
- Develops and maintains contacts with community and professional organizations
- Functions as a life-long learner
- Manages ceramic materials inventory, including safe handling of hazardous materials, while mindful of sustainability
- Serves as Gallery Coordinator or Program Chair as needed
- Instructs Art classes utilizing knowledge of the discipline and teaching practice that facilitates student learning
- Meets all scheduled and special classes-day, possible evening and weekends
- Teaches classes as assigned, following approved course outlines
- Prepares and develops materials for assigned classes
- Posts and maintains office hours
- Provides students with course syllabi
- Maintains records of grades and attendance; reports individual academic grades when required
- Maintains college facilities and equipment
- Delivers instruction in a variety of modalities to meet program and student needs including face-to-face, remote, hybrid, and/or online
- Creates a learning climate of mutual respect and fairness

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- This is a 100%, 10-month faculty assignment of the F9 band and grade
- All positions at Chemeketa are required to be available for work onsite as requested by the college.
- Requires flexible work schedule to meet program needs, which may include evenings and/or weekends
- This position may require the use of your personal vehicle for transportation between campus locations
- If requested, you must supply official transcripts within 30-days of hire
- Employees must maintain Oregon, Washington or Idaho residency as a condition of employment.
