THE POSITION
Fuel your future as an Automotive Mechanic with the Department of Transportation! In this role, you help keep essential equipment operating smoothly so that public services stay strong. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This role focuses on maintaining and repairing a wide range of vehicles and equipment that support transportation operations across the Commonwealth. It ensures that essential machinery stays in safe and dependable working condition. As an Automotive Mechanic, you will perform the following duties:

• Vehicle Repairs: Perform skilled repairs on cars, trucks, tractors, construction equipment, and powered hand tools
• Preventive Maintenance: Carry out routine servicing such as oil changes, diagnostics, tune ups, and component replacements
• Safety Inspections: Complete official state safety and emissions inspections and properly document required records
• Diesel Equipment Work: Service diesel-powered equipment and repair electrical, cooling, suspension, and driveline systems
• Field Service: Provide emergency road service and perform maintenance in field environments when needed
• Equipment Care: Maintain equipment records and keep the work area clean, safe, and compliant with safety practices

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
• Travel, overtime, and shift work is required. Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $49,819.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or
• Completion of an approved apprenticeship; or
• Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

Special Requirements:

• This position requires possession of a valid driver's license which is not under suspension.
• This position requires possession of a validPennsylvaniaClass 1 Inspection Mechanic certificate that allows inspection for Class 1 vehicles.

Additional Requirements:

• You must be able to perform essential job functions.
