Senior Project Architect

KOVAC is seeking a highly experienced, technically rigorous architect with approximately 5+ years of professional experience in custom residential design to join our Los Angeles studio. This is a leadership role for an architect who excels at translating ambitious design into clear, coordinated, and buildable architecture. The ideal candidate brings strong technical judgment, exceptional production experience, and the ability to lead projects through all phases of design and construction. Our work includes detail‑intensive custom residences, technically challenging hillside homes, ground‑up estates, and executive architecture collaborations with partners including John Pawson, Foster + Partners, and Ferguson & Shamamian. Responsibilities Translate conceptual design into thoughtful, buildable architectural solutions Lead the technical development and execution of high‑end residential projects Lead the production and coordination of detailed construction documentation across all project phases Guide projects through permitting and construction administration Maintain project schedules, consultant coordination, and documentation quality throughout all phases Coordinate closely with clients, consultants, contractors, and fabricators while maintaining design intent and documentation quality Resolve complex technical and detailing challenges with clarity and precision Mentor junior team members and contribute to a collaborative studio culture Qualifications Professional degree in Architecture 5+ years of experience, primarily in high‑end custom residential Strong expertise in construction methods, detailing, and building systems Proven experience leading projects from design development through construction administration Excellent organizational, communication, and project management skills Proficiency with industry‑standard modeling and graphic software required (AutoCAD, SketchUp, etc); Fluency in Revit preferred Knowledge of California building codes and permitting processes Why KOVAC Work on architecturally ambitious projects with a high level of technical and material sophistication Collaborate with globally recognized architects, consultants, and craftspeople Join an internationally diverse team of ~25 architects and designers who value curiosity, rigor, and thoughtful problem‑solving Hybrid remote/in‑office schedule with Mondays and Fridays remote Competitive compensation and benefits package including 401(k) contributions, generous PTO, and winter holiday office closure #J-18808-Ljbffr Archinect
