About the Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD): The Indiana School for the Deaf (ISD) is a fully accredited school for Deaf and hard‑of‑hearing students in nursery school through high school. The Indiana School for the Deaf is accredited by AdvancED Indiana and the Conference of Educational Administrators of Schools and Programs for the Deaf (CEASD). It provides services to approximately 342 students enrolled on campus. About 60% of the students live on campus during the academic year. ISD offers a full range of social activities, including sports, clubs, and organizations. Role Overview: The Speech Pathologist provides speech, hearing, language, and voice services to residential and non‑residential students at the Indiana School for the Deaf. You will work to help students to communicate in the most effective manner possible. This role requires: An Indiana Speech‑Language Pathology license or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment. Ability to communicate clearly in American Sign Language (ASL) and English. The school uses a salary matrix that considers education and experience. Salary is commensurate with education and job experience. Providedirect therapy services to students for the habilitation/rehabilitation of communication disorders. Serveas a case manager for student’s communication development. Serveas an in‑service resource person to staff on speech and language related topics. Referstudents needing communication related assessments such as medical, neurological, audiological and/or psychological. Evaluateall assessment information and develops student therapy and training prescriptions. Assistin the identification of materials and equipment utilized for speech pathology services according to program needs. Maintainaccurate records and gathers statistical data as needed. The job profile is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time. This position is exempt from overtime compensation for additional work hours that may be required to complete essential functions or other assigned work. Exempt employees may work more than 75 hours in a pay period without additional compensation and must report a minimum of 75 hours per pay period of work hours and/or paid leave taken to receive their base biweekly salary. What You’ll Need for Success: Credentials: Master's degree or its equivalent in Speech‑Language Pathology from an accredited educational institution approved by the Indiana Speech‑Language Pathology and Audiology Board. Indiana Speech‑Language Pathology license. Certified clinically competent from the American Speech‑Language and Hearing Association. Extensive knowledge of the factors that constitute or contribute to disordered speech, language and voice, in both children and adults. Considerable knowledge and understanding of the patterns of social and cultural diversity that affect the communication process. Considerable knowledge of the code of ethics that governs speech pathology services. Working knowledge of certain principles of psychology, mental health, audiology, neurology and the anatomy and physiology of the oral and hearing mechanisms. Working knowledge of state and federal laws and certification standards that affect the delivery of speech and language services. Ability to diagnose and treat a wide variety of community disorders co‑existing with the multiplicity of physically challenging conditions. Ability to remain current on new therapeutic techniques. Ability to determine the severity of communication disorders through the comprehensive use of diagnostic and assessment instruments. Ability to communicate effectively. Able to perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodation. Supervisory Responsibilities/Direct Reports: This role may be utilized in a supervisory capacity based on agency needs.
