St. Mary's Healthcare is seeking a compassionate and experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our growing Outpatient Behavioral Health team in Amsterdam, NY. This full-time, hospital-employed position offers the opportunity to provide high-quality psychiatric care including diagnostic evaluations, medication management, and treatment planning to adult patients in an outpatient setting. As part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team of psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, therapists, and support staff, you will help deliver patient-centered mental health services that promote stability, resilience, and long-term wellness. Position Highlights: Full-time, hospital-employed outpatient position. Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and medication management Opportunity to work onsite with flexibility for occasional telehealth Join a supportive, integrated behavioral health team Access to a strong referral network and EMR integration Responsibilities: Conduct psychiatric assessments and psychodiagnostic evaluations for adult patients Provide ongoing medication management, monitoring therapeutic response and side effects Deliver care through both in-person and telehealth visits as clinically appropriate Maintain accurate, timely documentation in accordance with state and federal requirements Collaborate with behavioral health providers, primary care, and community partners to ensure coordinated care Participate in case conferences, quality initiatives, and team-based discussions Provide patient and family education on diagnosis, treatment plans, and wellness strategies Initiate referrals to additional medical or mental health providers as needed Qualifications: Required Credentials – Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner licensed (or eligible for licensure) in New York State. BLS Provider certification (must be obtained within 90 days of hire) Preferred Experience – Outpatient psychiatric experience preferred but not required Skills - Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and ability to work independently. Experience with medication management, crisis intervention, and patient-centered care. Ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team Compensation & Benefits: Base Salary Range - $110,000 - $135,000 (commensurate with experience) Competitive compensation package, including base salary + sign-on bonus Generous Paid Time Off (PTO) Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance Retirement plans with employer contributions Potential eligibility for loan repayment programs due to our HPSA designation Complexity of Work: This role requires strong clinical skills in psychiatric assessment, diagnostic formulation, medication management, and crisis evaluation.
