Job Summary

We are seeking a Safety Engineer in Poway, CA for a full-time, temporary-to-hire opportunity supporting advanced aerospace, surveillance, and defense operations. This role is ideal for an Environmental Health and Safety professional who enjoys identifying workplace hazards, improving safety programs, supporting OSHA compliance, and helping teams operate safely and effectively.

This position offers the opportunity to work in a highly technical engineering and manufacturing environment with cross-functional exposure to employees, managers, and regulatory stakeholders. The Safety Engineer will contribute to a proactive safety culture built on teamwork, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence. This is an excellent opportunity for a safety professional seeking long-term career growth with the goal of conversion to a permanent position after the initial assignment.

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct workplace safety inspections, building inspections, and hazard assessments to identify risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Investigate workplace incidents, support root cause analysis, and assist with implementation of hazard mitigation plans.
- Support OSHA compliance, regulatory inspections, safety documentation, reporting, and follow-up activities.
- Coordinate, schedule, develop, and deliver employee safety training programs covering ergonomics, hazardous materials, material handling, PPE, emergency procedures, CPR, First Aid, AED, and Right-to-Know requirements.
- Support Environmental Health and Safety program implementation, including waste management, hazardous waste processes, safety manuals, procedures, and compliance records.
- Partner with employees, leadership, and cross-functional teams to promote a safe, compliant, and productive work environment across multiple facilities.

Compensation and Benefits

- Compensation: $69,000 to $110,000 annually.
- Employment Type: Full-time, hourly, temporary-to-hire.
- Assignment Length: Initial 6-month assignment with the goal of conversion to a permanent position.
- Schedule: 9/80 work schedule.
- Typical Hours: 7:00 or 8:00 AM to approximately 5:30 PM.
- Flexible start times may be available based on business needs.
- Location: Poway, CA.
