Florida -Teacher of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Location West Palm Beach area, Florida Employment Type Contractor Position Type In-Person Service D/HH Compensation $50-$58 Experience Entry-Level Job Description AIS is looking for TWO certified Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (ToDHH) to join our team of independent contractors in the West Pam Beach area of Florida for the 2026-2027 school year. ToDHH are itinerant and provide in-person services to students with hearing loss in local school divisions. The Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing functions as a member of a student's educational team to provide direct instruction, consultative, and support services for educational achievement. The candidate must possess a working knowledge of: American Sign Language assessment and instructional strategies evidence-based research in the field recommended best practices technologies and hearing assistive technologies available for individuals with hearing impairment, and expected roles and responsibilities of a Teacher of the deaf/hard of hearing within a school environment. The ToDHH will: Utilize current evidence-based practices to assess and develop auditory skills, language development, and educational achievement. Comply with special education services within federal, state/county procedural guidelines. Participate in the development and implementation of IEPs for those students identified as eligible for Hearing Impairment (HI) services. Provide ethical and evidence-based treatment, guided by data collection, response to treatment, and ongoing analysis of developing academic skills as well as auditory and language skills. Communicate and consult with students, parents, educators, administrators, and outside agency professionals.
