Operate Heavy Equipment on Major Underground Utility & Civil Construction Projects

Lippert Excavation & Pipeline, Inc. is seeking experienced, safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operators to join our growing team. If you have experience operating excavators and other heavy equipment in utility, excavation, or civil construction, this is an opportunity to work on major local projects while enjoying consistent hours and overtime.

Based out of our Sandpoint office, we specialize in land development, underground utility infrastructure, and heavy civil construction, completing projects that help build communities throughout North Idaho.

Pay & Benefits

• $25.00–$30.00 per hour (Depending on Experience)
• Time-and-a-half overtime after 40 hours
• Typical schedule of 50–60 hours per week
• Full-time, Monday–Friday
• Consistent local work
• No overnight travel

Work Location

• Based in Sandpoint, Idaho
• Projects within approximately 50 miles of Sandpoint and Ponderay
• Home every night

What You'll Do

As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you'll safely operate excavation equipment on residential, commercial, municipal, and highway construction projects. You'll work closely with foremen and utility crews to complete underground utility installations, site development, and earthmoving projects with precision and efficiency.

Responsibilities include:

• Operate excavators, dozers, backhoes, loaders, and other heavy equipment safely and efficiently
• Excavate trenches to grade for water, sewer, and storm utility systems
• Perform site preparation, land clearing, and rough and finish grading
• Support residential subdivisions, school expansions, and local highway construction projects
• Read grade stakes and assist in maintaining proper elevations
• Conduct daily equipment inspections and perform routine preventative maintenance, including greasing, fluid checks, and track inspections
• Work closely with foremen, pipelayers, and utility laborers to ensure safe and accurate project completion
• Follow OSHA safety standards and company safety procedures

What We're Looking For

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of heavy equipment operating experience in excavation, underground utilities, earthmoving, or civil construction

Skills

• Proficient operating excavators and other heavy equipment
• Knowledge of trenching safety and excavation best practices
• Ability to read blueprints, grade stakes, and site plans
• Strong attention to safety, precision, and teamwork

Requirements

• Valid driver's license
• Reliable transportation
• Class A CDL is a strong plus
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
• Comfortable working 10–12 hour shifts with consistent overtime
