As a Permanency Worker, you will engage with families and build meaningful connections that deepen your understanding of their strengths, individuality, and needs, supporting them as they move toward safety and stability. Summary of Duties Monitor and assess safety, well‑being, and development of children in care, and support transitions such as returning home or adoption. Facilitate and observe parent–child visits, provide coaching, and arrange transportation. Maintain regular contact with families and partners while developing and updating safety and service plans. Coordinate services, make referrals, and track progress for children and families. Keep accurate case records, including assessments, plans, and required documentation. Prepare reports, make recommendations, and participate in court hearings and review boards. Collaborate with caregivers, schools, service providers, and DHS partners to support child stability and permanency. Minimum Qualifications Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record. Bilingual in English and Spanish. Bachelor’s degree in human services or a related field, or a bachelor’s degree unrelated to Human Services combined with an associate degree and one year of human services related experience and related training, coursework, or certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency. The degree must be completed, not in progress. Essential Attributes Experience working independently and in a team setting to complete shared tasks. Experience organizing work, managing time, and meeting deadlines. Experience writing clear and concise information with minimal errors. Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel for daily tasks. Experience working respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds using a culturally informed approach. Experience evaluating issues and resolving conflicts through clear communication and structured problem‑solving. Experience managing workload and de‑escalating challenging situations in a high‑pressure, fast‑paced setting. Working Conditions Work takes place in offices, participants’ homes, and various community sites. Occasional travel required for transporting children or families and conducting case‑related activities. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm PT, with possible fluctuations based on service needs. Occasional compensated overtime, including evenings and weekends. Employee on a rotating on‑call schedule, including evening and weekend work. Interaction with individuals experiencing trauma or emotional distress; some situations may require quick decision‑making to ensure safety. Activities include traversing stairs, moving on uneven terrain, and assisting children (up to 50 pounds) in and out of car seats. Benefits Cost of Living Adjustments.
