As a Game Day Hospitality team member, you will be primarily responsible for serving alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to guests either as a member of the waitstaff or as a bartender ensuring a positive and efficient experience, especially in a high-volume and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Customer Service: Greeting guests, taking orders, and ensuring a friendly and welcoming atmosphere.
• Beverage Preparation & Service: Serving beer, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks accurately and efficiently at all locations including courtside seats and The Deck
• Responsible Alcohol Service: Checking identification to verify age, monitoring for intoxication, and adhering to all Illinois alcohol laws and regulations.
• Transactions & Cash Handling: Processing transactions in an accurate and efficient manner, as well as maintaining proper record of transactions.

Evenings, weekends, and some holidays are required. FLSA: Non-Exempt

Minimum Acceptable Qualifications

• Customer service skills: Excellent communication skills to interact with guests effectively and appropriately handle any issues that arise.
• Multitasking & Efficiency: Ability to handle multiple orders and tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Physical stamina: Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time
• Attention to detail: Accuracy in drink preparation, card handling, and bar organization.
• Relevant Certifications: Individuals responsible for sale of alcohol will be required to be TIPS or Illinois-specific certified.

Evenings, weekends, and some holidays are required.

Extra Help employees are appointed to fulfill casual or emergent needs within the university. The amount of time for which services are needed is not usually predictable and payment for work performed is on an hourly basis and based on actual hours worked. Workdays and hours may vary according to departmental requirements. Extra Help employees do not receive SIUE benefits, holiday pay or paid sick or vacation leave.

Extra Help employees are required by State Universities Civil Service System rules to take a 30-calendar-day break after working 900 hours. At the end of the 30 days, you may begin another 900-hour employment cycle in a new position if available. Working Extra Help will in no way affect any other employment opportunities with SIUE, including your position on and Civil Service register. There is no guarantee that working as Extra Help will lead to or secure permanent employment.

Illinois Residency Requirement: Pursuant to the State Universities Civil Service System, out-of-state candidates must establish Illinois residency within 180 calendar days of the start date for this position.

Illinois residency requires proof of a valid Illinois Driver's License or state of Illinois ID Card. Failure to produce the required documentation within 180 calendar days will result in immediate termination of employment.

The screening process will encompass a criminal background check and, where applicable, other background checks such as a drug screen, verification of employment and education or licensure/certification, reference checks, and/or checks with relevant government registries.
