Requirements
Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Program
Active Wisconsin Respiratory Care Practitioner license
RRT credential through NBRC
AHA Provider-level BLS
NRP certification
Responsibilities
Provide respiratory care and treatment based on patient needs and established protocols.
Assess, monitor, and document cardiopulmonary status.
Initiate, monitor, evaluate, and wean invasive and non-invasive ventilation.
Administer oxygen and aerosol therapies and titrate oxygen per protocol.
Set up, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain mechanical ventilators and non-invasive ventilation equipment.
Respond to emergencies and assist with resuscitation, airway management, and ventilator support.
Transport critically ill and mechanically ventilated patients within the hospital.
Educate patients and families regarding respiratory therapies, medications, and equipment.
Maintain accurate documentation and participate in continuing education.
